Urban Structural Tree Sand 0.7m Bag

Suitable For:
• Urban Tree Planting
• Reducing Subsidence
• Preventing Pavement & Road Damage
• Urban Landscape Applications

Originally referred to as ‘Amsterdam Tree Sand’, this urban tree planting soil was created in Holland in the 1980s. Whilst technically a soil, our Bury Hill Structural Tree Sand has been specifically created for planting trees in populated urban areas, where there is a need to avoid soil compaction and resultant root damage.

This specialist material is produced by blending specially selected, graded, silica sands and organic PAS100 compost (the British Standard for composts) which is then screened to 10mm creating an aerated, fertile planting media with good drainage that allows oxygen, moisture and nutrients to travel through to the root system, thereby aiding strong and healthy growth.

Our Structural Tree Sand has been designed for use in busy urban environments, where it is able to maintain heavy footfall and vehicle movements without the fear of compaction and subsequent root damage. When determining quantity, we recommend that you should allow 1.6t to the M3 when the product has been compacted.

We recommend that our Structural Tree Sand should be used in conjunction with our Washed Tree-Pit Subsoil which you can view under ‘Contract Soils & Subsoils’ .

Our Structural Tree Sand has been tested and accredited by the UK’s leading soil scientist Tim O’Hare Associates for use as a Structural Tree Sand.
